I spent my Easter this year in the beautiful Parco dell’Uccellina in Tuscany. The usual tradition – feasting for days! I was tempted by a tour of chianti region between our 3 hour meals, but thought it best for my expanding waistline to escape the temptation of a wine tasting tour and opt for something cultural in the countryside.

Situated in the middle of the charming Tuscan landscape is the Giardino dei Tarrocchi built by Niki de Saint de Phalle in the second half of the last century. The garden displays a collection of psychedelic sculptures depicting Tarot cards.
There are around 21 sculptures, some are even big enough to live in, in fact the picture above is of me frolicking in an opened-aired bathroom.

If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary to do while you are visiting Tuscany I would definitely recommend the Giardino dei Tarrocchi. In the words of Niki, “This garden was made with great difficulty, with love, with crazy enthusiasm, with obsession, and more than anything else, with trust. Nothing and nobody could have stopped me.
